Keepsake OBITUARY for Martha GRIM GRIMM

MRS. GRIMM SERVICES HELD FRIDAY Funeral services for Mrs. H. S. Grimm were held in Bassett Methodist church Friday afternoon with the Rev. Harold Baker officiating. Burial was in Bassett cemetery.
Martha Grimm, daughter of Jacob and Ruhama Grimm, was born February 17, 1864, near Racine, Ohio and passed away at her home south of Bassett, on January 28, 1947, at the age of 82 years, eleven months and eleven days.
When a small child she moved with her parents to Syracuse, Ohio, where she lived until she was 20 years of age. She came to Knox county, Nebraska, in October, 1885, with three sisters to join their father, keeping house for him until her marriage on August 19, 1897 to Howard Stanton Grimm near Middlebranch. In the spring of 1899 Mr. and Mrs Grimm moved to Boyd county living there until they were burned out by a prairie fire. They returned then to Knox county and purchased Mr. Grimm's father's tree claim where they continued to make their home until the spring of 1908, at which time they moved to Colorado for a short time. They returned to Nebraska in the fall of 1908 and settled on a homestead in Rock county, where Mrs. Grimm resided until her passing.
Mrs. Grimm was the mother of five children, the eldest daughter, Mabel, dying in infancy. Left to mourn her passing are her husband, one son, Raymond, at home, three daughters, Clara, at home, Ollie, (Mrs. Ralph Lane) of Kearney, and Ima, (Mrs. Rex Burns) of Hot Springs, S. D., ten grandchildren, one great granddaughter, two sisters, Mrs. Lavinna Mitchell and Mrs. Ida Williams, both of Florence, Oregon, a sister-in-law, Mrs Lafe Grimm of Rich Hill, Missouri, and a host of other relatives and many friends.
Mrs. Grimm's family and home were her greatest interest in the nearly fifty years of her married life.
She had been in failing health the past year and seriously ill for three months.

H.S. GRIMM RITES SUNDAY
Funeral services for Stant Grimm were held in the Methodist church Sunday afternoon with Elder L. I. Rodgers and Rev. Harold Baker officiating. Huston Funeral Home, in charge of services. Interment was in Bassett Memorial Park.
Stanton Grimm, son of Henry and Katherine Grimm, was born March 14, 1861, in Buchanan County, Iowa, and passed away at his home south of Bassett on Sept. 23, 1949, at the age of 88 years, 6 months and 9 days.
Stanton came to Nebraska with his parents by ox team when he was 12 years of age. They settled in Knox county where he grew to manhood on a farm, doing farm labor with oxen.
On August 19, 1897, he was united in marriage to Martha Grimm, near Middle Branch. To this union five children were born, the oldest daughter, Mable, dying in infancy.
In the spring of 1899 they moved to Boyd County and were burned out by prairie fire that fall. After the fire they moved back to Knox County, and he took a tree claim where they lived until the spring of 1908 when they moved to Colorado staying only one summer.
Returning to Nebraska Mr Grimm homesteaded where the present home is located.
Mr Grimm served as one of the board of regents when the county high school was established; also serving as a member of the commissioners for a number of years.
He was a kind father and husband, and has many friends and neighbors.
His wife preceded him in death on January 28, 1947. He leaves to mourn his passing his children, Raymond and Clara, at home, Ollie (Mrs. Ralph Lane) of Roseburg, Oregon, and Ima Burns of Bassett; ten grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, brothers, F. W. Grimm of Lynch, L. B. Grimm of Rycroft, Can., one sister, Mrs. Geo. Van Kleek of Venus.
